
At least 137 people were killed and 5,000 injured in a massive explosion that shook Lebanon’s capital of Beirut, leaving hundreds reported missing with fears that the death toll will rise, according to the health minister. More than 300,000 people have been displaced from their homes. Authorities declared Beirut a “disaster city” and have imposed a two-week state of emergency after the shockwave tore through commercial and residential areas.
