
Covid-19 continued a resurgence in Europe, where Germany recorded more than 1,000 new infections for a third consecutive day and Italy reported the most new cases since mid-May. Cases in England rose by more than a quarter in a week. In Spain, which faces a second wave after emerging from a strict lockdown, new infections slowed slightly.
