Fearless Queensland Woman Gets Up Close With Huntsman Spider

A Queensland woman got up close and personal with a huntsman spider, showing off her encounter on social media in a post on September 26. In the video description, insect enthusiast Lisa Van Kula Donovan said, “this absolutely gorgeous male Holconia immanis was a bit flighty at first, but eventually calmed and knew I meant him no harm. I’ve held him before but I haven’t held him since, so he was a tad skittish.” Van Kula Donovan, whose goes by the username wannabe_entomologist on Instagram, frequently documents her interactions with all sorts of insects and spiders. She recently showed off a giant moth resting on her hand. “I’ve always loved nature since I was a child, but really got into entomology nearly 10 years ago when I moved to Australia. I love spiders and stick insects most, but feature everything on my account,” Van Kula Donovan told Storyful. Credit: Wannabe Entomologist via Storyful
