
A group of Queenslanders spotted a fish repeatedly jumping out of the ocean off the coast of Queensland, Australia, on July 12. At one point, the fish narrowly misses landing in a passing boat. Burger said the animal was a shortfin mako shark, the fastest shark in the world. Mako sharks have a reputation for impressive leaping, according to the marine conservation organisation Oceana.
