Seal Attempts to Remove English Diver’s Hood

Ben Burville had his hands full as he dived in the waters off the English coast on October 29 as a mischievous grey seal attempted to remove his hood. Burville, a Northumberland resident who works as a doctor by day, has built up a rapport with seals in the area after nearly 20 years recording and observing them. In footage originally posted on Twitter, the playful seal approaches the unaware diver from behind before biting and attempting to pull the headgear from his head. “The seal is simply engaging in play and appears to have the ability to differentiate between the diver’s kit and his actual body,” Burville told Storyful.
